Our Mission:
To make Oklahoma "The State of Choice for Business."
Our Vision:
The State Chamber's business advocacy will be the most valued membership investment for Oklahoma business.
The State Chamber, Legislative Advocates for Business is the state's most effective lobbying organization representing all types and sizes of business.
- We are a unique, nonprofit, membership organization that represents all types and sizes of business, schools, cities, foundations, government and other non-profit organizations. Our staff consists of 22 professionals, including 10 registered lobbyists.
- While The State Chamber's primary mission is to represent business interests at the Capitol, we also provide services and programs designed to address the specific needs of small business, retail, aerospace, manufacturing, community development and education.
- The State Chamber's membership is more than 2,000 individual business locations, in 25 states. 50 percent of our members have 10 or less employees.
- The State Chamber's policy is developed and set by a volunteer membership corps comprised of more than 650 professionals involved in more than 20 separate committees and task forces. Their recommendations are then taken to the full Board of Directors for policy approval.
- We serve as both The State Chamber and the State Manufacturers' Association for all Oklahoma businesses.
Affiliate organizations of The State Chamber include:
- Oklahoma Prosperity Project
- Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Executives
- Oklahoma Professional Economic Development Council
- Oklahoma 21st Century Foundation
In 1990, The State Chamber became the first accredited state chamber in the nation, and has been reaccredited every five years since. The State Chamber was awarded “Accreditation, with Distinction” this year.
“Accreditation is one of the highest honors bestowed on chambers fighting for pro-growth and jobs policies at the federal, state, and local level,” said U.S. Chamber President & CEO Tom Donohue. “This distinction honors your commitment to helping to advance the principles of free enterprise — the bedrock of this prestigious award.”
Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and statewide involvement. In order to receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review can take six-to-nine months to complete. The State Chamber received a perfect score in the Governance, Human Resources, Government Affairs and Facilities sections of the application.
"We are honored to be among the most elite state chambers in the nation. It is a testament to our hard-working and talented staff, who always put our membership above all else," said State Chamber President & CEO Fred Morgan. “But, even more importantly, we could not do what we do without our members. This designation only means we must continue to work hard to serve as the business community's legislative advocates both in Oklahoma and Washington, D.C."
