State Chamber of Oklahoma reacts to FY 2020 budget deal

Oklahoma City (May 15, 2019) – After Gov. Kevin Stitt, President Pro Tem Greg Treat, and Speaker Charles McCall announced a budget deal for fiscal year 2020, Fred Morgan, president and CEO of the State Chamber of Oklahoma, released the following statement:

“This budget deal reflects the collaborative spirit and momentum that Gov. Kevin Stitt, President Pro Tem Greg Treat, and Speaker Charles McCall have brought to the state Capitol this session.”

“From the State Chamber’s perspective, the highlights of this budget deal are:

  • Ensuring transparency with budget limitation bills,
  • Supporting health care access with $62.8 million for Graduate Medical Education and providing an increase to (Medicaid) provider reimbursement rates,
  • Funding the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s eight-year plan,
  • Restoring $30 million to the County Improvements for Roads & Bridges (CIRB) program,
  • Placing $19 million in the Quick Action Closing Fund, and
  • Establishing accountability by creating the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency (LOFT).

“The State Chamber has advocated for these items since the inception of our OK2030 plan.  We are exceptionally pleased with the progress made and leadership demonstrated by Gov. Stitt and legislative leadership. And, all of this accomplished with no new taxes on Oklahoma families and businesses and still placing $200 million in the state savings account.”
