Workers’ Comp Reforms Bring Savings for Fifth Consecutive Year

Workers’ Comp Reforms Bring Savings for Fifth Consecutive Year

Oklahoma City (September 17, 2018) – State Chamber of Oklahoma President and CEO, Fred Morgan, released the following statement after the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) filed an overall loss cost level decrease of 2.3 percent for next year:

“This reduction reflects the continuing positive effects of the workers’ compensation reform passed by the Legislature and signed by Governor Fallin in 2013. Another year of reducing the loss cost filing is a great sign for business in Oklahoma and the latest decrease will bring the total loss costs rate reduction to nearly 64 percent. We would like to thank Insurance Commissioner John Doak for his tireless support of the reforms and the Workers’ Comp Commission for their continued work on streamlining the claims process and reducing the “friction costs” associated with the old court-based system. The State Chamber will continue to work for system improvements that keep costs down while ensuring injured workers get back on the job.”
